Brewery as a “Third Place”
What is a Third Place? Folks spend their days in a variety of places. The first place is our home, and the second place is the workplace. The Third place is where we go to connect with our friends, meet new people and foster community. Third places don’t have obligations or formal requirements; they are spaces for relaxation and belonging.
The Wooly Pig strives to be a Third Place, with a variety of spaces fostering intimate chats or group energy. And not a TV or screen to be seen. Drinking good beer is a collective experience. It’s an informal gesture that brings us together. It invites us—friend, neighbor and stranger—to the table, for a shared experience and to share experiences.
Inside or Out– Sip your beer while partaking in the history and tranquility of the farm
Choose a seating area to suit your party and the season. Four distinct areas are available and all offer a view of the farm's historic red barn surrounded by forest, pasture and field. The wooly pigs are often in the pastures that abut the brewery.
Tasting Room - seating about 30, the tasting room (and brewhouse) was originally the farm’s equipment barn. The Wooly Pig family refurbished the area using traditional post-and-beam construction mixed with modern woodwork. The paneling, timbers and light fixtures are made of wood reclaimed from old barns on the farm. The main bar and tasting room tables are natural-edge wood slabs, harvested from a giant elm tree that once stood 300 feet away. A local metal fabricating company designed our clever piggy barstools
The Pavillion seats around 80 people, depending if the canvas sides are down. It can be closed in for winter and screened in for the warm months. Two pellet stoves and overhead heat lamps allow the space to be usable all year long.
Salettls are one-table picnic shelters for those looking for a little intimacy. We have 8 salettls each with a table and benches seating 6-8 people, with fans in the summer and heat lamps in the winter.
The Lawn Picnic tables are scattered about the lawn. There’s also plenty of space for blankets, camping chairs and children’s play.
